With the retirement of the #22 jersey of 13-year Philadelphia KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas coming this Sunday, we take a look at the Top 5 moments of the illustrious goalkeeper's career.
Next up in our countdown is the #4 moment in his career, which happened on January 5th, 2008. After the calendar had turned to send the MISL season to the midway point, the KiXX were hosting its I-95 rival Baltimore Blast at the Wachovia Spectrum. An odd sensation was in the air that night, and everyone in attendance quickly found out why.
An outstanding game of indoor soccer was played that night in what was one of the most defensively sound matches ever played in the history of the game. Only two goals would find the back of the net throughout the 60 minutes of play, and not one of them found its way past Philadelphia goalkeeper Peter Pappas. The KiXX veteran recorded 14 key saves and did not give up a single goal the entire night. Behind notches from Sammy Castellanos and Jonathan Steele, Pappas posted the fourth shutout of his illustrious career and saw his team win, 4-0.
The previous three clean slates for Pappas came on 3/27/99 at the Florida Thundercats, 4/2/99 against the Florida Thundercats and on 1/17/04 against the San Diego Sockers.
